Our Counseling Center is very committed to giving all students additional support through individual counseling sessions and group counseling sessions. In our groups, we focus on a variety of topics: anger management, conflict resolution, healthy relationship building, problem solving, and surviving the death of a loved one. We very proactive with responsive services for students. Referrals for counseling services come through the administrators, teachers and parents. Each counselor facilitates group work with students as well as provides individual counseling sessions as needed.

The groups and topics are varied and cover a wide range of life skill techniques.

S.A.L.T. 8/9 and 7/8 (Succeeding and Leading Together): The SALT groups focus on anger management, conflict resolution, healthy relationship building, and problem solving. In SALT, students have a safe place to practice many skill-building techniques.


S.A.S.S. (Service and Student Success): The SASS group gives students an opportunity to engage in a service learning opportunity and promotes leadership skills.

T.A.G. (Together and Geared Up): TAG groups help students new to WHMS learn skills to build relationships and feel connected to the school.

CHAPTER 2: Students who have participated in group work during the previous year qualify for Chapter 2 counseling. Counseling consists of more intense work through life-skill strategies.



L.O.C.K. (Leading Out with Character and Knowledge) Students are given opportunities to build leadership skills. Including how to how to read social cues from others, the decision making process and learn how to work with other peers.



BFF (Better Than Fair-Weather Friends): The BFF groups focus on conflict resolution, healthy relationship building, and problem solving and have a safe place to practice the skill building techniques.



Good Grief: Group members work through the death of a loved one



Divorce: Group members work through their parents' divorce
